This course is designed to teach foundation leadership and instructor skills for a basic group exercise/aerobics class and program. Ample teaching opportunities are provided. In this course you will learn: To program plan for all class sections and fitness levels for group exercise (aerobics) classes; How to create a safe and caring atmosphere; Stabilization ball, spinning, step, free weights, martial arts, boxing exercise ideas and techniques; Cuing and working with music; Use of space and group formations and choreography skills; How to teach low/high impact group exercise aerobics classes and use equipment; Communication skills and professional ethics; Each student will be given ample teaching opportunities within the course. Re-certification Candidates: CFES fitness instructor and personal trainer re-certification workshops are available on a semester by semester basis and listings are posted here as submitted. To find a workshop please scroll down.
Annual re-certification requires twelve (12) verified instructional hours through the current year per certification designation; and a total eight (8) recognized continuing education credits (CECs). Two-year re-certification requires 24 verified instructional hours through the current year per certification designation and a total 16 recognized CECs.
CFES also accepts workshop CECs from CALA, Human Kinetics, IDEA, the NFLA (which includes the BCRPA, AFLA, SPRA, MFC, OFC, FNB, IFC and NSFA) and the YW/YMCA, as well as a variety of current fitness leadership seminars, workshops and conferences. College and university health and fitness courses count toward re-certification CECs.
CFES is flexible and always looking for great workshops to assist instructors and personal trainers advance their career knowledge base and credentials. In most instances CECs are an hour per credit. If you find other workshops you would like to attend and are unsure if they would qualify for CECs, just drop us an email about the workshop, or give us a call and we will review and advise.

CFES is not affiliated with workshop conductors nor host agencies and bears no liability to Instructors and Personal Trainers taking these workshops. Instructors and Personal Trainers must ensure their CPR, Fitness First Aid and any liability insurance are kept up to date.
