Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Fitness Division (S.P.R.A.) and Canadian Fitness Education Services (CFES)

The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association (S.P.R.A.) Fitness Division, is pleased to announce a professional alliance with Canadian Fitness Education Services Ltd.

All CFES resources meet S.P.R.A. and National Fitness Leadership Alliance (NFLA) program guidelines. We look forward to learning with you. The CFES Fitness Knowledge Homestudy Program is also approved by the Massage Therapist Association of Saskatchewan for 35 credits for Continuing Education/Professional Development

Professional Career Steps for a Fitness Leader in Saskatchewan ... How CFES fits in.

For the student who wants CFES and Saskatchewan Fitness Leadership Certification (S.P.R.A.):
You would like to:

  • become a certified fitness instructor in aerobics, strength training or aquafitness;
  • develop a career in the fitness industry.

    Step 1. Complete the S.P.R.A. Fitness Theory classroom program or CFES Fitness Knowledge Home Study Program.

    S.P.R.A. recognizes that the home study course acts as an equivalent prerequisite to all S.P.R.A. Fitness Leader courses. Students unable to attend a S.P.R.A. Fitness Theory classroom program can enjoy CFES Fitness Knowledge Home study program in the convenience of your own home.

    All students receiving 80% or higher receive a CFES Fitness Knowledge Certificate of Completion, recognized by the S.P.R.A. Fitness Division.

    This program is an enjoyable preparation study guide utilized by thousands of students preparing to write the NFLA Fitness Theory Exam.

    Step 2. Contact the S.P.R.A. office and arrange to write the NFLA Fitness Theory Exam. Phone: 1-800-563-2555

    Step 3. Register and complete a S.P.R.A. Specialty Module, either Group Exercise or Aquatic Exercise

    Step 4. Complete the S.P.R.A. Specialty Module Exit Criteria

    Step 5. Hold current CPR and First Aid Certificates

    Step 6. Maintain Current Fees for S.P.R.A. Certification and Recertification Criteria

    S.P.R.A. Fitness Instructor Certification and Membership
    The Saskatchewan Parks and Recreation Association Fitness Division, was developed by S.P.R.A. in 1985 and became a division in 1993. The Fitness Division is steered by dedicated volunteers, staff and the fitness membership.
